With Australia’s fastest growing population, Victorians are growing accustomed to regularly experiencing overcrowded public transport options and service delays.
Port Phillip Ferries, a Little Group business, today introduced Bellarine Express – a new vessel designed to provide a better transport solution by transferring local residents and visitors to Victoria’s major destinations quickly and comfortably.
Bellarine Express will seamlessly navigate both Port Phillip Bay and the Yarra River – a first for the ferry industry.
Little Group chairman Paul Little spoke at the vessel launch about the opportunity the new ferry service will offer for travellers in the state.
“Victoria is growing more rapidly than any other state in Australia. Everyone knows the frustrations of traffic congestion, and ferry travel offers a safe and reliable alternative,” Mr Little said.
“Bellarine Express can carry 400 passengers and offer an efficient journey with all the comforts of other transport options and more,” he added.
Bellarine Express features a licensed café on board, bike rack storage, free Wi-Fi, charging stations for electronic devices and better table and seating configurations, including drop-down tables on the back of seats.
“Featuring low emission engines, Bellarine Express is one of the most environmentally friendly ferries travelling Australian waters. And with the latest designs to increase speed, it’s also one of the most efficient,” Mr Little said.
Bellarine Express was officially christened by Her Excellency the Governor of Victoria and it will commence passenger journeys early in the new year.
