Just 2m longer overall than its predecessor, but significantly 6m longer on the waterline, the Evolution 10B’s refinements increase payload whilst maintaining performance with a given set of engines. A retractable bow T-foil combined with a refined hull form further improves seakeeping and passenger comfort.
Operators have employed the 98m in conditions ranging from operations in the Arctic Circle in winter, to the tropical climates of the Caribbean; hot Spanish summers; military exercises in summer in the Persian Gulf to extreme performance testing in the mid Atlantic (off the coast of Greenland) in winter.
With twelve vessels from Evolution range in commercial and military service around the world, the 98m Wave Piercing Catamaran is the most successful high speed ro-pax craft in modern times. For its combination of speed, reliability, economy and sea keeping performance no other vessel in its range can rival it.

Following successes enjoyed with the 96 metre HSV-X1 Joint Venture and the 98 metre TSV-1X Spearhead, HSV 2 Swift was contracted to serve operationally as an interim Mine Warfare Command and Support Ship (MCS), and support transformational mine warfare modular mission payload initiatives.
HSV 2 Swift is capable of maintaining an average speed of 35 knots or greater, loaded with 500 short tons, consisting of 350 personnel and military equipment. A minimum operating range of 1100 nautical miles at 35 knots was required by the contract, as was a minimum transit range of 4000 nautical miles at an average speed of 20 knots. Furthermore, she is capable of 24-hour operations at slow speeds (3-10 knots) for experimentation with unmanned autonomous vehicles, and to support dedicated and emerging organic mine warfare missions.
